What We Do
The Wilton League of Women Voters is the town’s local affiliate of the League of Women Voters. At the national, state and local levels, the League is committed to expanding voter access, encouraging informed and active participation in government, working to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influencing public policy through education and advocacy. Although strictly nonpartisan, neither supporting nor endorsing candidates for any political office, the League is wholeheartedly political.
At the local level, the Wilton League of Women Voters (WLWV) organizes and hosts debates and forums during election cycles, hosts events with our legislators and town officials, as well as develops programming on specific topics of local, state, or national interest. We often collaborate programs with other town organizations, including the Wilton Library, GOODMorning Wilton, the Wilton Historical Society, the public schools and associated parent groups. We regularly provide Wilton residents with voter information about upcoming local elections and Town Meetings, referendum questions that will be on the ballot, and most recently about the implementation of Early Voting through GOOD Morning Wilton and other outlets.

League of Women Voters Studies
According to the LWVCT Local League Reference Series-Study/Concurrence/Consensus 2014: “Study is the process of formally investigating and discussing a body of facts (including policy implications) whether supporting or contravening a working hypothesis, leading to or including a statement of position. A study can be part of any League’s “Program,” can take place at the local, state, or national level, and is usually designed to provide the League with a basis for future political action.”
The Wilton League of Women Voters has participated in several studies; a few of WLWV’s recent studies are posted below.
The School Start Time Study-June 2005
LWVCT-School Start Time Concurrence Steering Committee-September 2005
Town Government Study-May 2006
The Impact on Wilton Families of the Current Economic Downturn-May 2010
The manner in which studies are conducted varies from study to study, but for some general guidelines, refer to the LWVCT Local League Reference Series or the WLWV Outline for Local Studies.
