The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. League positions are based on member consensus following a process of thorough study. Although strictly non-partisan, neither supporting or endorsing candidates for any political office, the League is wholeheartedly political. It works to influence public policy through educating, lobbying, and advocating our positions on issues we have studied. Therefore, contributions to the League of Women Voters are not tax-deductible. The League of Women Voters works at the national, state and local levels through more than a thousand communities in all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin islands. The Wilton LWV (WLWV) is governed by a Board or steering committee, and offers discussions and speakers on specific topics of local, state, or national interest. We welcome new members. . .and remember, the LWV is NOT for women only!
WLWV was awarded the 2005 Healthy Sleep Community Award from the National Sleep Foundation. WLWV has also been honored by Connecticut's Lieutenant Governor and State Senate, as well as received a special recognition award from the American Lung Association.
